dreams of intention

good morning Relatives
thank you for being in this day
we had a tremendous lightening storm last night all across the western night sky for about an hour  then rain and wind   everything is clean and crisp this morning.

Thank you for your time and your care of your self.  The Morning Star was waiting for me this morning as I stepped out of the back door to greet the day.  There are leaves all over the ground.  Yesterday we put in new windows and began tearing off the old siding. The plumbers had a day of finding weak or worn out things in their equipment and in the drain system. This morning we passed the inspection with flying colors.  We are now FREE to insulate and put on the siding and install the heating system.

For those of you who have sent gifts towards the accomplishment of this task I am very grateful. For those of you who are not yet ready to help I am grateful for your knowledge of yourself and your path. for those of you who can and will send financial support please mail it to Mary Brown 109 4th St NW, Pipestone, MN. It will go directly to the men who are doing this work for us to support their families. It is important to go forward with this project in this place.  Thank you relatives for your support.

So back to the story.
Last fall (2011) I was at a grandmothers gathering in AZ and had two dreams. In one dream the Spirits showed my vertebrae, my back spinal column, and it had a big hole in it.  It looked a bit scary, and then while I was looking at it the Spirits showed how they stabilized and mended it which was a relief.

Then I had a second dream. In that dream I was sitting down to get a tattoo. Which again for me is no new thing.  Only this time it was a Spirit Being doing the work on my right leg.   I was watching the Being outline everything and realized that he was going to tattoo my entire leg!  I said,"Hey! wait! I just asked for this much (holding out my hands in a thumbs and fingers to make a small circle)."  He kept on working.  I was like, "Hey!  What are you doing!?  This is going to really hurt!"  At that point the Being stopped tattooing and looked me right in the eye. He said," you'll be fine, get over it." so I just sat back and watched it go.

Both sets of my ancestors were blue people.  The Picts were my european ancestors through the McDuff clan, and they were called Picts because they tattooed themselves blue.  The Arapaho also were known for tattooing themselves blue.   I have been a traditional beadworker since I was a little girl. I love patterns and stories in beadwork and in tattoos.  Mine are a story. They are a medicine in and on my skin intended to change, refine, direct, and honor the me that I am becoming.  I hope to have a full suit by the end of my life.  On my right forearm in Sanskrit is written Om Ma Ni Pad Me Humn which most people may not know that the characters mean: generosity, ethics, patience, Tolerance, perseverance, and wisdom.  And when all placed in a row those characters add up to compassion.  On my left forearm in Sanskrit is a prayer: "Seek peace above all else, knowledge, kindness, and lack of aggression will protect me from all violence and ignorant destruction. " Pretty cool huh!  Once when I was a resident at UPenn, one of the students asked me why I put that on my forearms?  I said that I wanted to be able to see it every time I moved my hands in my scrub shirt.  He laughed and said do you have to be reminded? and I said Yes. don't you?

Back to the dreamtime.

When I woke up I knew two things for sure. The Spirits were fixing to change my life again drastically and it would be very painful that change, and I would be fine.

Being fine can take some doing.  Its not as easy as it seems to sit back like Shiva on the waves and trust the current. Personally it took me some major over and over again last year, reminding myself that Spirit was in charge and I was told I would be fine. It was a great year for learning and for change.  It took some time to actually sit back in the chair and let the Spirits work.

One my way home from the grandmothers I was wondering how this would begin.  It was 6:30 in the morning, I was really tired I'd been driving 15 hours to get home to work, and decided to exit and get some coffee.  Starbucks was look'in good!

I pulled off onto the exit as was waiting for the light to change when  I got rear ended. That was it. I knew it was now. I was sitting in my car in shock, trying to figure out if I was hurt when the guy that hit me pulled up beside me and said, " I'm not sure why I did that! I just took my foot off the brake and put it on the accelerator and rammed you!?" He was seriously confused.  I knew why he did it. It was definitely part of the plan.

Back in 09. That magical year.  I had a dream that I was driving down the wrong side of the street. No matter what I did to correct my course my car stayed in the oncoming traffic lane.  I was a bit freaked out so I pulled my FJ into a parking lot so that I would not hurt anyone. When I got into the parking lot the car started to spin counterclockwise and the wheel was useless. So, I just let go of the wheel.  Once I let go of it I actually was able to look out the window and see lots of stuff going on.  Like being in a big viewing room.  No one got hurt in the dream and I felt again like the Spirits were letting me know something was coming.  Big Change, big stuff.

Later on that week (in 09) I was sitting at a stop light in Dallas, on my way back to work, at about 4:30 in the afternoon.  I realized that the surroundings looked like the street and lot I had been in in the dream.  The next thing I knew I had been hit in the front end of my FJ by a car.  I was stunned! I had been hit so hard that the lincoln that had hit me ( which I later found out was black) appeared to be lime green.  I sat for a minute not sure what to do, then I realized my collar bone was in the wrong place under my seatbelt, so I pushed it back into place with my thumb.  ( For those of you who find this odd, I am a veterinary surgeon and we don't like things out of place!)  Then a fireman helped me out of the car and over to the curb where I called a friend to come and get me.  My car was not drivable.

The ambulance dudes asked if I was ok and I said yes I think so.  so they left.  later when my friend got there she said'" Mary you need to go to the hospital." I wasn't sure why she said that until she had me look down at my wrists which both were making a weird detour between my forearm and hand. "Oops", I said, "That's not right!"

So we called the ambulance dudes back and I went to the hospital.  I had two broken wrists, a ruptured disc in my back, two in my neck, and the separated (now put back) collar bone. Turns out the lincoln was stolen and the cops were chasing him at 90 through the traffic.  Kind of not great.  It was a long ordeal with lots of spiritual growth for me from that "lime green" lincoln. Any how, you might begin to see why after big dreams indicating pain and transformation that I might be a little paranoid about being hit in a car!

Back in 20011 the guy who hit me and I got through everything, I went to Starbucks, called my chiropractor, and went home to ice my back.  I decided to take the day off and just get some rest.  That night I had another dream.  It showed that my chiropractor was going to take me in a back room at her dad's house and in that room there were folks shooting up and kind of slinking about. The room was full of really bad intentioned human beings. Creepy like I imagine a junky house would be. It was really not a very good place.  No light in there.  In the dream I went in to find my friend ( the chiropractor) and she wanted to leave but she was so freaked out about her dad and the junkies and about being trapped in there, that she overreacted when I touched her and she stabbed me in the hand with a needle.  I looked down at it, in the dream, and realized that this was the beginning of pain and loss from others fear about who and how I am, and that I would lose a significant amount of money starting with her.

But the Spirits said get over it so ????

so I went to see her the following morning, she took a series of spinal films, and there in the middle of my thoracic spinal vertebral column was a big hole.  Just like in the dream.  A big lucency in the bone that was anything but normal.  You know I would never had found it or seen it without the guy hitting me.  Isn't that some sort of blessing now!  The rule outs from the radiologist were unknown bone loss, or bone cancer.

so
we were off    into the transition that was going to be really big ( tattooing my entire right leg) and really painful, but I was going to be fine.

ok
well its been quite a day here on the prairie. Im tired and am going to watch Kung Fu Panda one more time.
time to eat dinner and call it a night
I worked all day on finishing the dogs house and kennel area for the winter, the guys have started taking off the siding.  The house looks really small now.  The original boards are very cool.  They are from the 1800's  awesome!!  Tomorrow we will go and sort the reclaimed steel to pick the sheets for the house and begin applying. it. Wish us luck and safety and send money!!

thank you relatives for your love  for your patience, for your integrity, for your beingness
I love you
every day

time and mind flight of the butterfly

good morning relatives

I am a little behind this morning from writing yesterday. LOL  I apologize for that. yesterday being Labor day I labored to finish out the bath area downstairs.  I used the leftover steel from the roofing material and enclosed the shower and tub and toilet area. It looks pretty good.  I loaded a few photos on the profile album. As you probably have figured out I have not had and do not have internet at the house yet. My neighbors, the Keepers of the Sacred Tradition of Pipemakers, ( of which I am a member) own the old railroad depot next door to me ( the grandmothers house is the old stationmasters house). They have allowed me to use the shower, the kitchen and toilet and the internet while the grandmothers house is being worked on.  It has saved me over and over. Yesterday was a busy day at the Keepers with the holiday traffic so I did not come over till this am to make a post. the other note is that I am a bit of a poor gramatticist. And occasionally my spelling is not the best.  I will try to do well so that things make sense and can be followed easily but I ask you also to remember that perfection is already achieved in the simple fact that both you and I exist and our eyes are exchanging prayers and messages with each others hearts through this medium.  At times my head and way of doing can appear to an outsider as that of the flight of a butterfly; sometimes a little crazy and wobbly but sure to effectively display the beauty way of The Wind, The Spirit, and The Wing of The Heart. I am a Warrior of The Heart, and thus always focused on the call of the Spirit in the Nectar and the intention of recreating life again and again.  For example in the first post when I wrote that others thought I should write "own" (rather than down) about this project, I decided not to change the spelling because it was already obvious that it was down and owning it out loud was also very important. So I own that choice in spelling and the opportunity it creates to teach us that in order to write about our lives we must own them and owning them comes long before we may be comfortable with our choices being public.  I was talking with a friend yesterday about the fear that exists in existing. It never goes away but I have learned to keep it and use it as a knife edge to stay sharp in my intent. I guess I use it as an accountability to remember that not by me but through me or perhaps through you!

I am grateful to the Keepers for their generosity and for the Grandmothers for existing.  Without them this manifestation would not be happening as it is for me and so I am grateful. One thing that the Keepers and the Grandmothers really have always done for me is to remind me that we are all family. We are all one. that what I do for me is done for you, and what I do for you is done for me. the circle is very present here at the quarries.  Every morning I begin with feeding the dogs and cat, watering and then making welcome the day with tobacco cedar and sage. My first teacher from Santa Clara Pueblo taught me to wash each morning. Wash. Wash away the work in the dream time. Wash away the judgements, the misconceptions, the fears. Wash away attachments. Wash and clarify my intention, my purpose for that day.  Wash  cleanse  focus  hear the laughter in the water hear the willingness in how it flows over my head and between my toes  listen to its clarity  listen to the length of it journey to me and the complete sureness that it will continue to flow far beyond me into the next being  make my day like the water  make my day about love and connection and clarity and flow  let my dross fall like stones to the earth so that the water in me continues on to you with as much clarity as is possible  honor the water   honor the day  honor the one next in the circle that that water will touch  honor the circle all the way back around to me  honor the water  wash my thoughts  wash my prayers  wash my life for you

every day

Saturday was my birthday so I went down early to sit with the Three Maidens at the quarries.  I offered tobacco and cedar and thanked them for a good ending and a new beginning. There is always for me a great sense of sisterhood with them. A great peacefulness being at their feet. All angst flowed out of me and into the ground.  They are so massive and so heavy and so long time committed that I could feel the insignificance of my "stuff" dissolving into the earth and becoming food for worms.  I celebrated the joy of those that I know who have the clarity in themselves to know exactly how they belong in relation to me. I honored the joy that it creates when we are clear on our path.  I then went up to the quarries and visited with my friend Dullfiles.  He is a pipemaker. We talked about the maidens and the stone. He remarked that any time he spends too much time away from handling the stone he can get blocked up or tight in himself. For both of us and many others just coming to this place, just sitting with the land, the water and the stones removes that tightness that we can collect like a magnet to iron filings in our hearts and our minds and our bodies and joints. The Pipe, the stone pulls it out.  It pulls it out and replaces it with peace. How insignificant I feel compared to the whole. What a relief it is to be so tiny and so not in charge.  I laid down, face down on the earth and thanked TakuCnas'cnan for my life and for the basket and arms of the Spirits that hold me so tenderly so close and so lovingly.   So today my relatives I pray for you to spend time on the earth  with the water with your blood  let it be peaceful  let go of the filings that have clung to you    do not look to others to be your magnet of peace   look to yourself   hold the fire  hold the gentleness  let the rest go  reverse your own polarity and do not give energy to the small negativities that try and cling to you  I love you, I respect you, I honor you, I appreciate you every moment of every day in this way I make my prayer in this way I make my work in this way I drink and clear the water for you and for all my relations.

tonight at the fire I will continue the story of the dreams and the path to here and now
all my love to you this day

The first action

Greetings Relatives.
Its a beautiful day here on the prairie.  I finished framing in the downstairs tub and shower this morning. Then worked on a pipestone bowl I'm carving. Thank you again for your support and generosity. Getting back to the story of the project I have to go back to 2009 again.

Some of you know I'm a motorcyclist. I used to invest in bikes rather than the stock market. Bikes are fun to ride and it's like owning a herd of horses without the boarding fees. Any how after I'd had the dream about my dad and the chopper, I was looking online for a knucklehead to invest in. I found one for sale by an old guy in Iowa. However by the time I called him it was sold. So he and I visited a bit about bikes. Turns out he is Creek. I told him my dads mom was Arapaho and we connected like old family friends.  He was in his 70's and had worked on, driven, and owned bikes since the 30's! Very old school dude. I asked him why he was selling his bikes. (usually these guys don't part with their stuff especially the good stuff and certainly not at the price he was selling bikes for).

He said that he needed money to get his granddaughter out of foster care. Her parents were in prision for meth and she had been scooped up by CPS and put in a foster home. He needed money to pay the legal fees to get her out of that system and home with him. She was 5. We chatted abut more about his situation and about motorcycles and family. A few days later after thinking about him a bit I woke up with the Clear knowledge that I was supposed to help him.  So I called and let him know I was going to drive out to see him from Dallas and bring him some cash. He could give me whatever he wanted in trade but I was going to give him the cash he needed.  He said ok and told me to bring a trailer.

So I drove to Iowa. Met his granddaughter and the other family and while his family loaded unknown motorcycle parts in my trailer I went in the house to visit with him privately. From being in his house and meeting his granddaughter and his sisters I could tell he was also an old school Creek Indian man who loved the earth and sky and his family, and who kept his prayers close. So I gave him $12,000.00 cash shook his hand and left.

I was taught to do my work and not look back. Release your prayers and let the spirits work it out. Trust them no matter what. Most of my friends thought I was nuts to give him that money for a trailer full of parts and in their eyes junk. But it was the right thing to do. What he did or did not do with it was between him and the spirits. I knew I had done my work for that day.

When I got back to Dallas I took the trailer over to the old school Harley shop where my buddies were and we unloaded it and inventoried everything. Man what a treat!  In that trailer were the parts for most of a 1936 Harley v-twin knucklehead bike. And everything to build a 1946 Harley knucklehead, (which I had always wanted).  The guys at the shop were very excited. So I put the word out about the 1936 stuff it was really rare and really valuable and a guy from Illinois called me ( turns out he was Lakota and had had a dream about me ) arranged to meet me at ceremony in AR and buy all the 1936 stuff. Very cool! So with his cash I  was both reimbursed for what I had given the elder in iowa, i had enough to build the chopper I had seen in the dream I had about  my dad. It took about a year and a half to build that chopper. You can see the pictures of it being built. I loaded some pictures of the chopper on the blog site in my profile.

We built the chopper. Lol it had a six foot rake to the forks and was a complete death trap!  Lol but it was super cool. I never rode it. It was way too scarey lol! But we did it!  I took it to the Texas motorcycle expo and it won first place in two categories.  So now what to do with this "spirit dream" bike.

So that was the first part of my dream that got made into reality. Very cool.

During the time/ years we were building the bike I met the grandmothers in AZ and at Lake Superior. Which is also where I met GMa Margaret. She encouraged me to find my Arapaho relatives and I'm working on it. In ceremony at Oklahoma my Nannie (my dads mom) came in the lodge and visited w/ GMa Margaret. That was really special for me. My Nannie died when I was 30. She came to see me after she died and we had tea and visited. She patted me on the knee and told me I had been a good girl. She's said because I had always wanted to know where we came from she said I want you to know we are Arapaho people. Never forget, she said, "You are Arapaho."  She still visits me in the dreamtime to teach me things. That is how I know when my dad shows up in the dreamtime the spirits are giving me direction from my ancestors.
Tomorrow I'll write more of the story. All of you have and are teaching me every day. Everyday I learn how to welcome love. How to hold the fire. How to be steady yet funny and flexible in my experience of the day and this work. I love you, I respect you, I accept you and myself as we are, I appreciate you Andi honor you. All my best Tok'sa Mb

Non Profit Status and Intentionality

I wanted to address the issue of being a non-profit

there are many good things with being a non profit organization and I know that it works for many organizations

however for this place and project here are the current thoughts that are guiding our decisions

at this time we are electing not to participate in the US governments non profit system. We have identified some and will continue to add to the benefits and issues that are provided by nonprofit organizational rules and regulations.

we believe that in returning the accountability to ourselves and creating and continuing the practice of trust, work, play, prayer, life skills, accountability to the whole and the self and use of the peer spirit circle practice we will and are creating a life style that will be sustainable and remake our world. Each of the advisors have lived life and gone through our own journeys of encounters with shadow, greed, fear, ego, oppression, loss, discrimination, socialization, religiousosity, pride, naivety, and many other things that have taught us through both negative and positive example who we choose to be and what we value in ourselves and each other and in the world around us. Those of us in the advisor group are practiced at being clear and honest with each other and in listening and considering that which is proposed as well as acted on. Part of the main goal of the project is to restore to each human being the active working understanding that they have a right to free will, to a personal, deeply developed relationship with Spirit, to an individual depth and development of who they are as a Spiritual being here on this planet fully realized as themselves and in thus becoming will strengthen the balance and the whole of the great circle of life. It is our intent to provide a place of peace, study, practice, and accountability here in Pipestone. We will be and are teaching even today classes on life skills. That, we believe is how Grandmothers will be and are changing the world.

we do not rely on hope  hope is a poor business plan and implies the lack of hope which also creates judgment and negativity, so we do not hope for these things or this change

We embody it.

We are living commitments to this work. Every day in our breath with our words and silence, in our hands with our actions and work, in our hearts with holding the fire of life throughout the country and the world, through or minds in not grasping the negative but standing quietly in the positive, in our bodies by eating well and simply, in our drink by honoring water and its beauty we demonstrate these comitments. We do this every day that follows night and every night that follows day for all of our relatives, for the water, for the earth, for the sky, and also for human beings. LOL

so to address some of the concerns that people use non profit rules for:

accountability
to the intent of the project is maintained by a group of people dedicated to this project who support the leadership of the Spirits and the vision and actualization of that vision. it is being developed in stages with prayer in a living town and community on a daily basis.

financial accountability is maintained by a financial advisor group of grandmothers that review the finances, the inflow and outflow of monies and energy. We review these factors and honor their sources. We maintain a practice of reviewing costs/expenses/plans and timing for the development of the project.  We also maintain a vision of a fire and the return of energy and blessing to any and all that make any and all contribution to this project.  Each gift given, even in thought, is received with welcome and passed into the project with daily prayer and peace. Each gift given, even in thought, is sent to the Spirits to focus, grow, return, and develop as they intend and as they know how to return again and again to all who join in this circle. Each negativity that is directed at this project is kindly returned to its source to be focused and revamped in its own path at its source. We feel that this maintains a clear beauty way and opportunity for us not to stand between anyone and their own relationship with spirit.

I believe that accountability will grow as we understand and develop the working of this project

one of our intents is to not be guided or controlled by governmental policy about tax relief or reward or identity.

while we very much support paying taxes as are due and we also will pay taxes when appropriate we do not wish to focus the spiritual return back through a givers bank or tax account.  We trust that those who are lead to give and support with energy in the form of money will also trust that that resource and energy is respected and will be applied in the best way at the best time.  No money for any personal well being or care is removed from the donations. I myself as well as the other financial advisors have our own jobs and incomes that we maintain separate from this project.

I hope that this helps to answere some questions about our intent and the people who are facilitating this work.

Center of the project

Hello and welcome
Thank you for your love of the land the water and the sky. I have been encouraged to write own how this Grandmother house was born. So I will do my best.

There have been many things, doings, that like little springs, burst forth in my life through dreams and Spirit weaving into events which resulted in me being here in Pipestone.  Working towards building the Grandmother house.  I call this place, this house, this land and event, "The Center of the East and West Gate".  That is, "Center," as in middle.  But the center as you know, is much more than the middle. It is the beginning and the end, all together all at once. A place of infinite balance, infinite possibility, infinite dimensionality, and infinite wisdom. When we enter through the East andthe West gate at the same time, we stand in The Center. That is This Place. It is that because it belongs to the Spirits. They have brought it about and through us will continue to create it and it's giving to this time.

The first dream I had about this place was in 09. I dreamed that my dad picked me up on a chopper motorcycle drove me north. It was a long journey in the dark. We arrived as morning was breaking. My dad pulled up to the curb of a place where there was A tall yellow house. He parked the bike and as I got off he and the bike disappeared. I was facing north. I remembered exactly the paint on the bike.  It was black and white with lightening and swallows diving through time and space.

Walking up to greet me was a man who was native american in appearance. He greeted me then stood  with me to my left as I walked towards the house. We passed under a tall gate that was hung with copper bells from India as well as many feathers and prayer ties. I recognized the gate as the entrance to my home.

As we walked towards the house it changed into three tipi's. Between the tipi's a grandmother with long white braids was chasing four buffalo. She was dressed in white buckskin dress, leggings and moccasins. As she chased the buffalo they ran from the north to the west south west weaving between the lodges. She was laughing the whole time as if she was full of joy and confidence. As they ran by she looked me in the eye smiling and I knew her! As I turned to the west and south to watch them running, there came from the south a great yellow horse neighing and calling other horses behind  to come. When the yellow horse met the buffalo and the grandmother, they all wheeled around and ran back down to the lodges.  It was a great noise but no disruption. They went behind the lodges to a place she showed me in my mind that was for ceremony. It was to yet visible in this time.

I turned around counterclockwise again to face south and out of a door that opened in the sky right in front of me came a Spirit man. He had white hair and a shirt with beadwork over his heart. In his left hand was a feather fan. He strode past me down to where the ceremony was to begin. He did not speak. He was very focused in hisintent he was very powerful and had electricity all around and through him. Then I turned to the east and another door opened in the sky and through it came a woman with the same type of shirt and beadwork over her heart. She also had a feather in her hand.  She smiled at me and went past down to where the ceremony was to begin. She was of brown hair and soft wind warmth and like flowers.

It was then I noticed that the man with me also had the beadwork over his heart as did I on my shirt. As I finished turning I saw all of it together as a great meeting of the Spirit Beings and a place where they had come to make a great change.

I studied the colors and the feel of the beadwork and I woke up.

This is the first dream of many and events that led to where we are. Many things came before in my life and in others lives that have woven this reality. I want to honor all those Spirits who have and are weaving as you and I speak. I want to honor all the lives of all the beings who have created this day. I will only be able to relate a minuscule amount of te great fabric of my life and your in this telling and so I honor all the unsaid but given and done and lived and died. All the gifts given and still to come.

I will write more tomorrow.
Thank you for your generosity, I respect you, I honor you, I appreciate you and I love you even as day follows night into morning, I will remember you in my prayers.

Tok'sa
